CALL FOR ARTISTS: Open Call for Spring 2017 Programming Proposals: Coalition!

wccw

Dear WCCW Community,

Last fall we held a programming quarter based around the idea of Civics to coincide with the national election. We had no idea that the outcome of the election would be so uprooting and worrying for all of us. For winter we moved to explore the theme of Co-Struggle in an attempt to regroup and unpack our intersections. This spring we will continue this line of thought by investigating the idea of Coalition.

We seek to form alliances with those who have overlapping interests to instigate combined action towards a common cause. What is the middle space in the venn diagram from which we can organize and move forward? What can be accomplished when we cooperate and build relationships to advocate for disparate groups? What formations encourage direct action? How do we develop shared strategies? Build partnerships? Negotiate terms and actions? Together we will reflect on past lessons learned and look towards future actions.

We put forward an open call for programming relating to these themes, to take place between  March 2017 and May 2017. Application information below!

Coalition programs for Spring 2017 may either be quarter-long projects or single events. We are accepting two types of proposals:

1.  Quarter Long Projects: We’re looking for Coalition-centric project proposals from individuals, small groups or collective practitioners at any stage of development from early research to existing, active, coalition-building platforms. We will accept 3 quarter-long projects for spring 2017

Each accepted project will have one night a week at WCCW throughout the quarter (March-May), as well as unlimited workspace time (MondayFriday, 10am-7pm), and receive a stipend of $1000 and support from WCCW staff.

Submit a proposal to present a quarter long project at the WCCW this spring

2.   Single Events or Programs: Conversations, screenings, workshops, reading or discussion groups, etc… centered around the idea of “Coalition.” We will accept approximately 10 single events or programs for spring 2017

Submit a proposal to present a single event or program at the WCCW this spring.

Submission deadline is January 15th, 2017.
